The first time I ever saw the sea was at Weymouth in July 1945. I was five and my sister was one. I remember that the family who ran the guest house bore the name Lepage, but it’s only within the last fortnight that I’ve discovered the address: 20 Alexandra Road. I remember a long highish wall enclosing a big garden, but here memory gets hazy. Yesterday (4 Sept 2013) I jumped on the train from Oxford, walked down the tramway, saw a catamaran, got the bus to Portland (what an extraordinary place) and finally walked up to 20 Alexandra Road, which is now part of a home for elderly people.
Could anyone confirm or correct my memories, in particular the wall and the owners’ name?
Many thanks in advance,
Ian

First-ever family holiday at Weymouth in July 1945. I was five years and four months old.
